I have so many things I’m loving this week, from some really cool design stories to reading about just how much psychology plays into home design. Also, thanks to some post-cooking research, I found out I don’t suck at making souffles after all! I’m sharing this all with you in this week’s Friday Faves.
Kreyol Kitchen Update
I recently shared the latest recipe from my grandmother, a cheese souffle, that I said came out really well and even pleased my picky Haitian dad, but I was a little disappointed after seeing the souffle deflate shortly after taking it out of the oven. Well, I should have researched this further before my ego was deflated (see what I did there) because, thanks to Wikipedia, I now know souffles generally deflate after 5-10 minutes once removed from the oven. I’ve written numerous times about paint before and there are so many pointers on how best to paint and what kinds of finishes work from where. You should always do your research before taking on a paint job, but here’s a starter on paint finishes and the trends happening within each finish via Domino.
Did you know that there was psychology to how we set up our homes? I found this article in Lonny to be pretty interesting in how it talks about how we allow our homes to look is all a reflection of our mental state.
House Tour (Sort Of)
One of the reasons why I love designer Emily Henderson so much is because she really takes her readers along for the process, which is my favorite part. She recently bought a mountain lake house for her family and is going to completely renovate it. But, in a major twist, fans get to vote and win a chance to stay there. I need this bed. If Mandy Moore can have it, why can’t I? Oh, it’s more than my mortgage payment? Nevermind!
