Friday Faves: My Latest Obsession

It’s Friday, it’s Fri-Yay! I’m so happy it’s the weekend. I’ve spent the past four weeks doing a lot of traveling and I’m so looking forward to a weekend at home to do absolutely anything I want or need to do even, I can’t believe I’m going to say this, weeding. I’m also dreaming of my next (maybe?) project, which leads me to my latest obsession and what I’ve been reading this week. Here are my Friday Faves.

Pattern Play: A How-to on Mixing Patterns

So, here’s the thing: Mixing patterns is hard. But also here’s the thing: When there isn’t enough pattern in a room, I think something is missing and, also, to be totally honest, kinda boring. In my mind, FYI, texture counts as a pattern. Case in point: for a while now, I’ve been thinking that there is something off about our office. Yes, it has patterned curtains and pillows. Yes, it has vibrant color. And yet…I feel like it’s kinda bland. After months of thinking this, I finally realized what was missing: more pattern (and texture). I have thought of different ways to change that that I think will be fun and I will be employing a few tips on how to mix patterns.

Germany: Gardening Goals

I’m in love. Daniel and I just came back from almost two weeks in the Southwest region of Germany, visiting family who live in such beautiful wine country and forest land. It was a great vacation and so beautiful. I know I already said it was beautiful, but really, it was. And what struck me the most was how just about every home we saw had such beautiful gardening spilling over balconies and covering the properties in the front and back, whether it was plots of vegetables and fruit or patches of colorful flowering plants. We also took trips to the Alsace region of France and Luxembourg and the homes there offered the same levels of gardening beauty. In short, Germany, and our trip overall, gave me some serious gardening goals.

Last week, I told you about a pretty client project that I’m working on, a new nursery for a friend in Hawaii who is expecting her first baby, a girl. After conversation and sharing  of links and images for inspiration, I shared with her three options, from neutral toward slightly bolder in overall feel, with turquoise as the main color. Want to see which option she chose?
