Five Creative Solutions to Holiday Decorating

‘Tis the season for holiday decorating…unless you’re just not that into it, think you don’t have the right space for it, or maybe you’re on a tight budget. But just in case there is a part of you that might want to do a little holiday decorating, I’ve got five creative solutions for you.

No space? Shelfie it!
Even if you live in the tiniest of apartments, or only have a bedroom to call your own, create a holiday #shelfie moment to bring a little cheer into your space.

No budget? Fake it!
Take all those boxes from recent deliveries and wrap them like presents (doesn’t even have to be wrapping paper) and create a display or two or three.

No mantel? No problem!
You can use other forms of home decor or other structures in your home to hold your stockings. For example, mounting stockings on a stair railing, a windowsill, or a decorative ladder, like in this photo.

No time? Let your nose do all the work!
Let a candle do all the work. The sense of smell is the most closely linked sense with memory, so pick a candle that can help you reminisce of great holiday memories and help you feel cozy in your home. Harlem Candle Company has quite the selection, and they look pretty too.
Not around? Put a wreath on it!
So many people travel around the holidays and decorating a home when you won’t be home may seem like a waste. Or even a problem if you won’t be home to regularly water a tree. Consider a wreath, which you can place anywhere like artwork. How about on a living room wall or your entryway, where you’ll see it most and feel a touch of the holiday spirit for the time you’ll actually be at home.
