The Cozy Cottage

Garage Organization Update

When we are spending 100% of our time at home thanks to shelter-in-place and trying to get through this pandemic one day at a time, we have to celebrate the little things as much as possible, right? So, I’m celebrating one (major) little thing that is going to help me achieve one of my goals for the cozy cottage this spring.

I shared almost two months ago what might be one of my biggest embarrassments at the house: our super messy garage. I mentioned here that organizing the garage was the one project that I was going to do while we’re in quarantine. I really hate mess and lack of organization and opening the garage door made me cry on the inside, so organizing this space just really needed to happen.

And guess what?

We ordered a shelving unit from Home Depot (this Husky heavy-duty shelving unit) to match the other one we already had in the garage and assembled it this weekend. Now the garage looks like this:

Still a mess, but lots of progress. For one, you can see the floor and walk around, and also find stuff! It also helps that I put out all of our outdoor furniture this weekend, so that cleared some space.

I still need to load up the shelves, set aside stuff that we want to sell, give away or throw out, cut up a whole bunch of wood for firewood, and still clean up everything else. I also would like to consider more storage options for all of our gardening supplies and tools, and also to hide miscellaneous things.

But I’m celebrating this little bit of progress right now.
