The Cozy Cottage

Progress on the Garden, Garage, and Backyard

I’ve mentioned several times in the past few months that I wanted to clean up our garden areas, the backyard overall, and the garage. Well, this post is just to prove that I actually have been doing it. It’s the little things, people! The last time you saw the garden areas, backyard, and garage, they all looked like this. The main items on the to-do list were to clean up and prettify the former hedge area, organize and tidy up the garage, and add more plants and prettiness to other areas of the garden. Well, here is the latest.

The garage is pretty much cleaned up and organized! That doesn’t mean it’s done, and I still need to get rid of broken, old or unusable things, but the Boss Bar section of the garage is far from embarrassing at this point. We got a firewood holder and this outdoor storage unit to hold all the gardening and planting tools, pots and miscellaneous, so you can’t see all of the things anymore. Now this part of the garage looks far less messy.

The former hedge area is in the process of getting pretty. In the backyard, we took some hostas that a neighbor was giving away and planted them where there was room, and mulched everywhere else. On the outside of the fence, we mulched and I’m testing out pavers that we already had. I need to get a lot more to make this a usable walking path, but I’m in no rush. At least I got all of the weeding done!

The vegetables have been planted and are doing well, and the strawberry plants are growing, although not really fruiting yet. I’m thinking of getting raspberry plants as well.

So, proof! We are making progress. And here are just some pretty flowers to look at, including an onion flower!
