Thirsty Thursday: Seasonal Cocktail Recipes
We love a good cocktail around here and celebrate #ThirstyThursday every week as well as, let’s face it, enjoy a good cocktail other days of the week too! I’ve shared some of our favorite cocktail recipes before here and have made several in the Kreyol Kitchen (see rum cocktail, grenadine cocktail, and a creamy cocktail). And now I’m sharing more favorite recipes, perfect for the winter season.
Here’s a recipe for a cucumber elderflower gimlet. We change it up by using several dashes of cucumber bitters rather than actual cucumber. It gives it more flavor and an extra kick to balance out the sweetness of the elderflower liqueur.
So seasonally perfect is a spiked apple cider recipe. There are so many different variations of it, and here is one. For ours, we use bourbon, apple cider, ginger simple syrup, lemon, and club soda, and stir it up with a cinnamon stick. You can see me making it here.
Daniel has been making Lillet Blanc cocktails, which are great for summer because they are refreshing, but would also make a great cocktail to counterbalance the heavier, heartier foods custom in wintertime. His mix is Lillet Blanc and gin (you can start at 50/50 and decide which flavor you want to add more of, a splash of club soda and orange twist.
The Bee’s Knees is a classic cocktail, but add sage and you make it seasonal. Here is a sage Bee’s Knees recipe to try. We’ve been making ours with sage simple syrup.
If you try any of these cocktails, enjoy, and cheers!
