Friday Faves: Essays, Recipe and House Tours
This week’s Friday Faves shares a couple of personal essays, a recipe we hope to try and home tours. We’re starting with the personal stuff first.
Essays:
Design*Sponge, a blog I have followed for years now, is celebrating its 13th anniversary. Creator, designer and writer Grace Bonney wrote an essay this week that just had me agreeing with and appreciating her on many fronts. Take a look if you want to read about the lessons she’s learned about herself throughout the Design Sponge journey.
Speaking of essays, did you catch the one I wrote this week on this here blog about wrinkles, my mom and mirrors? P.S. She still has that pin she’s wearing in that top photo.
Recipes:
Daniel and I have been talking about making our own bread. The idea most recently came about this past weekend when we had a picnic with friends and we brought homemade pesto made with our own lemon basil, caprese salad made with our own sweet basil and purple Cherokee tomatoes, and pickles made with our own cucumbers. So where was our own bread?! He found a solution this week courtesy of The New York Times, which we may need to try. Have you ever made bread or made this recipe?
House tours:
I am a huge fan of Emily Henderson. I like her decor style, especially when it leans midcentury modern. While she has departed from midcentury modern for her new English Tudor home, I love how she’s put her new home together: renovation, decor, everything. MyDomaine has a short house renovation post this week. That patio is to die for.
Lastly, this house tour in Lonny is bonkers. The owners, the design duo behind Work + Sea, say they both like maximalism and minimalism, which is super hard to pull off. I am mesmerized by this space. I think my favorite things are the custom dining room table and outdoor couches.
Got any #FridayFaves you want to share? Don’t be shy! Also, stay tuned for a little weekend help in the form of a cocktail recipe coming up soon. Speaking of which, happy weekend!
