Friday Faves

Friday Faves: Food F-ck Up and Stuff I Want to Buy

I’m starting this Friday Faves with a f-ck up: I tried to make another of my grandmother’s recipes for a gathering my cousin was hosting and I messed it up big time. It was supposed to be a creamy pie but ended up being soup. So I need your advice. Also, a few more things.

So, I showed up to my cousin’s house with the tourte cremeuse – creamy pie – that I was hoping  would be a delicious dessert and it was a total failure. Another cousin there told me I needed to give it a bath, something like this. My mother-in-law also has mentioned bathing certain recipes as well (I know that’s not the right term, but I think it’s funny). So, my question for you is, is there something special I should buy for this? Even though it turned out to be soup, the flavor was still good, so I want to try it again and finally have a recipe post here for you.

Speaking of my cousin’s house, he had this and I want it for our recycling. I should buy it, right?

We’ve been on the hunt for coupe, high ball and tumbler glasses, a simple design that has gold in it to match our vintage martini glasses, and preferably vintage but it’s hard to find a full set when they’re vintage. But I saw these glasses and I’m interested in buying them as tumblers. Should I buy them?

ICYMI, this month’s Designer Spotlight is on Angela Belt. Not only is she a fantastic designer with a colorful portfolio and great tips that she shares on Homepolish, but she has a strong point of view in more ways than one. I got to interview her and we talked about her work and her efforts to show that representation matters in the design industry. If you haven’t read the interview yet, find it here.

Lastly, the Chris Loves Julia blog just posted more than a dozen interior designers with small Instagram followings worth paying attention to. There are some really good ones here worth following and I hope to one day be on a future list. Check out the list here.

Happy Friday and happy weekending!

that is a nice recycling container. it is not practical for our apartment bc we would have to empty it every other day. but, maybe you dont hate the environment as much as we do 😀
the tumbler glasses with gold are a great deal! thats practically wholesale pricing! almost too good to be true. did you get them?

I did get those glasses. That price was too good to pass up. Been drinking out of them since and love them. You’d think at that price that they would be bulky and feel cheap, but they are lightweight and feel really good. Have not gotten the paper bag holder yet but still thinking about it.

Just do it. Take out your recycling daily. Routines become habits.

Cousins are like siblings. Always be prepared and when it comes to bringing deserts….always try things out a few times before introducing your new creations to family. They will appreciate it.
