Bedroom Inspiration

We’re now at five months of quarantine, and while many people have gone on to add back some of the lifestyle that we had before, we’re still spending so much more time at home than we ever did before. With different versions of school starting back up, work from home continuing for many, and colder temperatures on the horizon, you might be thinking of ways to create little retreats of your own in your bedroom. Need inspiration? Look no further.

For starters, check out this interview I did with interior designer Delia Kenza back in January about how to create a retreat-like bedroom. Those tips will still come in handy!

Want to create a cocoon-like space? I absolutely love what designer Sarah Sherman Samuel did with this bedroom, creating a monotone effect with the paint, headboard and other textiles in the room.

Another way to go dramatic with paint color is how Bianca Sotelo styled her room, with a deep, moody paint color, but bringing in lighter colors and textures through furniture, decor and artwork.

I am absolutely in love with this bedroom by interior designer Danielle Colding. It looks like a cream-colored textured wallpaper, which adds dimension but also allows the larger items, like that beautiful painting, and the bright colors, like the orange upholstered bed and blue nightstand, to shine. You can achieve a similar DIY look at home by keeping walls white or light in tone, and bringing in color through furniture or decorative pillows and blankets.

Need your bedroom to be a place you go to declutter your mind? Well consider emulating the bedroom of Kelly-Ann Baptiste of Pure Collected Living. Her space is light in color and easy on texture, organized and peaceful.

Like color and pattern, but find it hard to take in large doses? No problem. Take a cue from interior designer Caroline Rafferty, and bring color and pattern to your headboard or curtains, and keep the rest of the space light and organized.
