The Cozy Cottage

Best of 2020: Year in Review

I’m ending 2020 full of gratitude. This year has not been easy for anyone and there were plenty of weeks in which I swore I couldn’t take it any longer. But good things happened too and I’m looking at the year in review and savoring those happier times.

The biggest and most important thing that happened this year was that we were lucky enough to see our baby walk. He turned one at the end of January and we began sheltering in place mid-March and he wasn’t walking yet. What we normally would have missed while he was at daycare, we got to be there for literally every step of the way. More on that here. And for more on how we have managed to live and work at home all this time at the cozy cottage, check out this story.

I talked to some awesome, creative people this year. You can catch up by checking out the Best of 2020: Designer Spotlight story, and also read my story with art collector Seana Freeman here.

Considering the fact that many of us are living, working and doing everything from home – and looking for ways to improve said home – I shared different sources of inspiration for bedrooms, living rooms and offices.

I got busy in the Kreyol Kitchen, so if you’re looking for any new recipes to try, visit here.

I did a few projects, from the small – like adding some outdoor artwork – to the slightly bigger, like building my first DIY media console.

And, I shared ways to support BIPOC businesses with this story earlier in the year and The 256 Project 2020 BIPOC Holiday Gift Guide. In fact, the holiday gift guide was the blog’s most read story of the year!

The year in review is certainly not all roses, but there were a few beautiful, loving and truly enjoyable moments and I’m glad I got to share these with you.
