TV Room Moodboard and Living Room Decor Ideas

Happy new year! This month, I’ll be sharing with you moodboards and living room decor ideas – including what I think may be the world’s most comfortable couch that we recently purchased – as we revamp our first floor hang out spaces. So, if you are looking for home decor ideas and would like some inspiration, look no further!

Jumping Off Point

I have been wanting to change how we incorporate color on the first floor, with more color coming in through furniture, artwork and decor popping off bright, white neutral backdrops. Renovating the kitchen and having all main rooms now painted white as well as wanting to replace two broken sofas – that’s correct, TWO BROKEN SOFAS! – created the opportunity for us to do something more in this design direction. The first step was taking advantage of Black Friday and general holiday sales and purchasing a couple of sofas back in November.

This post is all about the TV room, which is now the middle room. We needed to find a sofa that would be comfortable to watch TV and movies on, look good against the colors of our kitchen since the sofa is visible from the kitchen, as well as fit in with what we already had. We already had an off-white and black shag rug that I love, the white oak TV console I built, as well as a mid-century modern style coffee table. And we also recently added some fun lighting, which you can read about here.

After testing out this sofa in person, we went with the modular Lovesac in the beautiful Mediterranean Corded Velvet. This sofa is perfect for TV viewing because it is soooo comfortable! And this big dose of a teal blue will provide a lot of color without overwhelming the space. Just below is the sofa but the version we got is just a two-seater and not the three-seater pictured. So far, the full sofa has arrived but we’re still waiting on the cushion covers. You can see what it looks like against the other elements in the space in the top photo.

And here is a moodboard that gives you a sense of the feeling we’re going for in this space. These aren’t necessarily all the furniture and decor we have in our own TV room, but you’ll see how we’re going for a mix of color with a lot of neutrals in case you’re looking for interior design ideas for home.

Robert Moore / black and white shag rug / TV console / lighting sconce / coffee table / paint is Snowbound SW 7004 (full disclosure that Sherwin-Williams is a client of my PR agency) / Lovesac sofa

I can’t wait to show you how this room looks when it’s more complete and we have all the cushion covers of the sofa. In the meantime, I hope you found these living room decor ideas helpful!
