Updated TV Room That’s a Comfortable Lounge
At the beginning of the year, I showed you a couple of living room decor ideas and moodboards for a TV room and flex playroom / living room space. Today, I’m showing you our updated TV room where we’ve carved out a comfortable lounging area for the humans and dog who live at the cozy cottage.
It’s a small space and a pass through from the front door and upstairs to the kitchen and backyard so we can’t cram much in here, just enough to make it functional, comfortable and bright and happy.
Most Comfortable Sofa Ever
We bought a Lovesac sofa in a beautiful Mediterranean corded velvet, and it is, in fact, one of the most comfortable sofas I’ve ever sat on. Perfect for watching TV, and even for those nights when I’m not sleeping well and need to crash on the couch for a few hours. More on the sofa here.
We decorated that wall with a gallery of photos from our travels, with an LED light winding through them. More on that light here.
Reading Corner
Emphasis on the corner, we brought down the super comfortable Eames replica chair from August’s room to create a little reading corner, lodged between the window and the TV console (see here for more on the chair).
I’d like to put a task or reading sconce there to make it better for actual reading, and round out the decor of a colorful caterpillar print and hanging planter.
Then there is of course the TV and DIY console, which you can see more about here.
Color and Texture
The entire space is painted Snowbound SW 7004 (disclaimer that Sherwin-Williams is a client of my PR firm). Choosing that white paint color brightened the space and lets all the other color, texture and art be the focus. In addition to the colorful gallery wall, caterpillar, and sofa, we have rusted metal letters on one wall and a Keith Haring print coloring poster taking up major real estate on the opposite wall.
Throw in a large dog bed, coffee table to kick your feet up, and shag rug, this TV room is a comfortable living room lounge for everyone.
